Interlake Mecalux pallet racking comes with either bolted or boltless (welded) frames. The company's patented beam-to-frame connection creates the most rigid, reliable structure available. In addition, it provides exceptional protection against damage, tampering, as well as accidental beam disengagement.

We only use high-strength steel, certified to meet the strictest specifications. All weld operations are controlled through advanced robotics or performed by welders certified to AWS Standards. Baked enamel finishes and a durable powder coating ensure a long service life of rack systems, even under the most demanding industrial conditions.

Pallet rack shelving can be configured for a variety of uses and product sizes. One option is double-depth racks, which increase storage capacity by enabling four pallets to be stacked back-to-back (requires a deep-reach truck). Our heavy-duty pallet rack can also be used in the construction of rack supported buildings, as well as for more basic storage needs in any warehouse installation. Combine them with hand-stack shelves for best results.

Pallet Racking Options

Pallet rack uprights allow shelf levels to be adjusted at two inch increments. Teardrop perforations are located on the front, whose purpose is to fit pallet rack beams together. Standrd frames consist of two posts, horizontal and diagonal struts, and foot plates. Hole punches for beam insertion are placed along the posst in 2" centers. Posts are available in a variety of gauges, lengths, configurations for seismic zones and bracing patterns made to be more resistant to twisting, separating and axial loading.

Bolted Pallet Racking Upright

Standard frames consist of two posts, horizontal and diagnoal struts, and foot plates. Hole punches for beam insertion are placed along the post in 2" centers. Posts are available in a variety of gauges, lengths, configurations for seismic zones and bracing patterns made to be more resistant to twisting, seperating and axial loading.

Bolted Pallet Racking Frames are often used in areas where there is a lot of seismic activity like earthquakes. The bolted frames allow the upright to move with the seismic activity. Bolted uprights can be shipped either assembled or unassembled. Unassembled frames can reduce the shipping costs, but will take time to assemble. Unassambled frames will generally have shorter lead times due to the modular parts needed. Bolted Pallet Racking Frames are also much easier to repair due to their modular design. You can repair/replace individual pieces instead of the whole frame.

Posts are available in a variety of gauges, lengths, configurations for seismic zones and bracing patterns made to be more resistant to twisting, seperating and axial loading.

Welded Pallet Racking Frames are the most popular style of pallet racking. Welded frames come preassembled and don't require the man hours that bolted uprights require for assembly.

The tear drop pallet rack beams are used to connect tear drop pallet rack uprights together in which loads are placed. Pallet rack beams are available in different widths to adapt to your specific project application use.

Roll Formed Beams

Roll formed beams are the horizontal elements of the rack on which loads are placed. Formed from one roll formed pipece of steel, with a continuous seam weld on its base.

Available in different sizes, roll formed beams have welded end plates, which slot into the teardrop shaped holes located on the face of the frames. They are held to the frames using two safety, spring loaded locking devices per beam.

Slotted And Unslotted Beams

Beams are available in unslotted or slotted styles. Both styles are roll formed with a continuous weld on the the base as well as a 1-5/8" step profile. Slotted styles also include slotted holes located at 1" intervals for the easy placement and connection of various accessories such as roll-in crossbars.

Various shelf types are available and will suit any storage requirement. The correct shelving option for your needs will depend on what you're storing as well as the weight of the load. The types of beems you're using will also play a role in the shelving required.

Mesh Decking

Mesh shelves are made of rectangular electro-welded mesh panels that rest on crosstie supports, which strengthen the structure. They are always fitted on beams and do not require further fixing.

  • Strength: Wire mesh decking holds items more securely than wood decking. The specialized coatings resist rubbing off even when in contact with the most abrasive products.
  •
  • Safety: Metal wire decking resists fire and has a lower risk of collapsing. It fits into your pallet deck tightly to ensure your shelving stays intact. Certain designs allow for water to flow if a fire alarm system triggers.
  •
  • Versatility: Browse different shapes and sizes that fit many common pallet deck models. Clip-on dividers and stops allow you to further customize your shelving. Separate products by category or prevent boxes from sliding off the shelf. Choose from multiple designs that comply with FDA regulations, fit step beams or make handloading easier.
  •
  • Ease of use: Wire decking installation requires few to zero tools. Wire decking collects less dust and needs less frequent cleaning. The modular nature of pallet racking lets you add more storage without completely disassembling the existing shelf.

Chipboard Decking

Chipboard shelves serve a similar application to mesh decking, but eliminate the possibility of item fall-through. They also provide a smooth surface, for ease of use with loose items. There are different types of supports for chipboard decks depending on the pallet racking beam type, as well as the load needed to support.

  • Cost: Chipboard decking is generally the cheapest option, as well as the easiest option to replace if damaged.

  • Uniformity: Provides a uniform surface that can easily be adapted to your specific rack type. Eliminates item fall-through
  •
  •
  • Versatility: Great option for smaller, hand picked items due to the uniform, smooth surface. Can also be used to as pallet storage, but has a smaller weight capacity than mesh decking.
  •
  • Ease of use: Chipboard decking installation requires few to zero tools. The modular nature of pallet racking lets you add more storage without completely disassembling the existing shelf.

L-2C Galvanised Shelves

L-2C galvanised shelves, depending on the storage need, can be placed on tubular or 2C beams. They fit directly on the beams and do not require further fixing.

  • Strength: Galvanized decking holds items more securely than wood decking. The specialized coatings resist rubbing off even when in contact with the most abrasive products.
  •
  • Safety: Galvanized decking resists fire and has a lower risk of collapsing. It fits into your pallet deck tightly to ensure your shelving stays intact. Certain designs allow for water to flow if a fire alarm system triggers.
  •
  • Versatility: Browse different shapes and sizes that fit many common pallet deck models. Available in smooth, diamond plated, and slotted options.
  •
  • Ease of use: Galvanized decking installation requires few to zero tools. The modular nature of pallet racking lets you add more storage without completely disassembling the existing shelf.

Galvanised Picking Shelves

Galvanised picking shelves are very similar to the L-2C Galvanised Shelves but are only used with ZS-60 beams. The shelf panels fit into each other via flanges and moulded edges.

Pallet Rack Components

  • There are a lot of different way you can customize your pallet racking system to fit your needs. When purchasing new pallet racking, it's best to consult one of our pallet racking experts, but here is a list of the common components of a pallet racking system to help get you started.
  •
  •
  • Upright: Vertical beams that form the walls of the pallet rack; holes or slots are designed to interface with the load beam.
  •
  • Beams: Horizontal beams that form the shelves of the pallet rack.
  •
  • Pallet Supports: Situated between the load beams to support pallets.
  •
  • Wire Deck: Safety measure to prevent pallets or products on pallets from falling through the rack structure. Used for storing smaller products like boxes.
  •
  • Footplates: Also known as base-plates they are located at the base of columns and serve as anchors providing more stability for the rack.
  •
  • Shims: Are used when the uprights are going to be located on floors that might be uneven.
  •
  • Row spacers: Are in most cases used when bays (uprights) are arranged in back-to-back rows.
  •
  • Wall ties: May be used for further support if the uprights are arranged in a row along a wall.
  •
  • Column protectors: Also known as post protectors, are protective shields that can be installed around the base of an upright to minimize damage in areas where forklifts might hit the upright.
  •
  • Guard rails: Are installed to increase protection where forklifts might hit the upright.
