The CGW 42860 flap disc is a 4-1/2 inch diameter, 7/8 inch arbor Type 27 disc designed for aggressive grinding and finishing applications on flat or contoured surfaces. It uses Precision Shaped Grain (PSG) Ceramic abrasive technology, which is engineered to stay sharper longer and provide a cooler, faster cut compared to traditional oxide or zirconia discs. This results in reduced heat buildup and extended service life for demanding material removal tasks. The 36-grit configuration balances material removal with a finer finish, making it suitable for blending, deburring, and shaping workpieces where a smoother final surface is beneficial.
The disc’s construction centers on a PSG Ceramic formulation, which is intended to deliver sustained cutting performance under heavy use. By combining ceramic grains with a Type 27 profile, the disc is optimized to maintain aggressive cuts while conforming to angled surfaces, enhancing control and consistency during grinding. The design aims to offer longevity and versatility across metalworking applications where durable performance is valued.
This product is packaged as individual discs, with a box quantity of 10 units, enabling straightforward stocking and replacement in maintenance workflows. The 4-1/2 inch size and 7/8 inch arbor are compatible with common angle grinders that accept Type 27, 5/8-11 or 7/8 inch shank configurations, but users should verify their tool’s arbor size and flange compatibility before installation. For best results, follow standard grinding practices and use proper PPE to manage heat and sparking during metalworking tasks.
