The CGW 43880 5" x 7/8" Type 27 36-Grit PSG Ceramic Extreme II Flap Disc is designed for grinding and finishing applications on angle grinders where a wide, conformable contact surface is beneficial. Its 5-inch diameter and 7/8-inch arbor/shank size align with common 5" flap disc applications, providing an efficient option for material removal and surface finishing in a single step.
This disc uses Precision Shaped Grain (PSG) Ceramic abrasive particles, engineered to stay sharper longer for faster cutting and cooler performance. The PSG ceramic grains are formulated to deliver longer life and consistent performance relative to conventional aluminum oxide and zirconia discs, which can translate to lower cycle times and reduced disc changes in demanding material-removal tasks.
Practical use considerations include ensuring proper mounting on compatible angle grinders and selecting the Type 27 profile for applications that require a flatter contact surface with more freedom to blend and deburr edges. The 36-grit sizing is suited to aggressive material removal with a smoother finish potential, depending on technique and workpiece material. The disc is packaged as a single unit with a box quantity of 10, which may influence stocking and project planning for ongoing maintenance or production work.
Compatibility details indicate a 5" diameter with a 7/8" arbor/shank standard; verify tool compatibility and safety guard clearance prior to use. Regular inspection for wear and disc integrity is advised to maintain performance and avoid disc failure during high-load operations.
