The CGW 51549 5" Dia 60-Grit Extreme Purple Ceramic PSA DWT Sanding Disc is a high-performance abrasive designed for demanding material removal tasks. Built on a C-weight latex paper backing with open coat construction, this PSA (pressure-sensitive adhesive) disc delivers reliable attachment and consistent contact across the work surface, making it suitable for quick disc changes on compatible random-orbit or detail sanders. The 60-grit ceramic grain provides aggressive cutting action while maintaining a degree of finish control, ideal for heavy material removal and blending tasks in metal, wood, or composite applications where controlled heat buildup is a concern.
Key features include premium ceramic grain selected for sharpness and endurance, an anti-clogging stearate coating to resist loading, and an open-coat structure that promotes cooling and dust removal during use. CGW emphasizes longer disc life with a claimed 2x lifespan compared to conventional aluminum oxide discs under similar conditions, which translates to fewer disc changes and improved workflow efficiency on large or ongoing surfaces. The purple color is a visual cue for the ceramic formulation and grit level, aiding in quick identification in mixed-tool environments.
Typical use scenarios involve surface preparation, deburring, and material removal where a balance of aggressive cutting and controllable finish is required. When selecting discs, ensure compatibility with your tool’s disc size and mounting method, and verify that PSA discs are appropriate for your sander’s pad type and pressure application. Each package contains 50 discs for convenient stocking and reuse planning in busy maintenance environments.
