The CGW 51500 5" Dia 80-Grit Extreme Purple Ceramic PSA DWT Sanding Disc is designed for high-efficiency material removal on metal surfaces. This 5-inch PSA (pressure-sensitive adhesive) disc uses a premium ceramic grain for an aggressive cut, helping operators achieve faster stock removal with a consistent finish. The extreme purple ceramic composition is paired with an open coat on a C-weight latex paper backing, which supports effective dust shedding and reduces heat buildup during use.
Key construction features include the stearate coating that resists loading, helping maintain a steady cutting action and prolonging disc life relative to conventional non-ceramic options. The combination of ceramic grain and anti-clogging properties makes these discs well suited to tasks where high removal rates are needed and clogs would limit performance. The disc is designed for 5" tooling and uses PSA attachment for quick, secure mounting to compatible backing pads.
Typical use cases involve aggressive sanding and finishing on metal components, automotive parts, and fabrication projects where a fast, consistent material removal is desired without frequent disc changes. The packaging indicates a box quantity of 50 discs per package, with each disc prepared for standard 5" PSA applications. When selecting these discs, verify compatibility with your grinder setup and ensure proper mounting and alignment to maximize performance and minimize disc chatter during operation.
