The CGW 42843 flap disc is a 4-1/2 inch diameter, 7/8 inch arbor Type 27 disc designed for grinding and surface blending on metalwork. It utilizes PSG Ceramic grain technology to maintain a sharper edge longer, delivering cooler operation with faster material removal and extended life compared with conventional ceramic or alumina discs. This construction supports productive grinding by reducing heat buildup and maintaining effective cutting action over more contact time with the workpiece.
The disc features 80-grit PSG Ceramic grains arranged in a structured flap geometry to provide consistent material removal and a smoother finish on angled or contoured surfaces typical of Type 27 discs. This combination aims to balance aggressive grinding with a degree of surface refinement, making it suitable for applications that require both stock removal and mid-range finishing. The packaging indicates the product is available individually, with a box quantity of 10, which can help with stocking and budgeting in maintenance environments.
Users should select this disc for metalworking tasks where a Type 27 angle-grinding wheel is appropriate and where PSG Ceramic technology’s claimed benefits—sharper edge retention, cooler operation, and longer life—are advantageous. Ensure compatibility with compatible angle grinders and the 7/8 inch arbor size, and verify that the disc’s grit and configuration align with the desired material removal rate and surface finish. Proper mounting, guard use, and wheel speed limits should be observed per standard workshop safety practices.
