Opportunity

The Safety Source was approached by Structural Plastics Corporation in reference to providing a turnkey LED lighting proposal to upgrade their interior and parking lot lighting to new energy efficient LED fixtures. The light levels in Structural Plastics were inconsistent with varying color temperatures. The Metal Halide fixtures they were using also resulted in high energy costs and unwanted heat output from the fixtures due to their poor energy efficiency.

Solution

The Safety Source provided a free LED Lighting proposal and once approved, handled the application paperwork in order to secure a rebate of $9,669.48 from Consumers Energy. The entire building envelope was retrofitted with energy efficient LED fixtures and lamps resulting in $12,151.31 in annual energy savings while also providing brighter, consistent light levels and color temperatures throughout the facility.

The Safety Source replaced 400W Metal Halide highbay fixtures with 165W LED linear highbay fixtures with occupancy sensors to increase energy savings, along with replacing 277W 8’ fluorescent strip lights with 26W LED strip lights. We also replaced 40W emergency and exit lighting with 4W LED emergency and exit lighting.
