The OEL AFW40LF-N 40 CAL Hood Lift Front Hood Navy is a dedicated arc flash protection system designed to work with OEL 40 CAL clothing. The kit combines a lift-front hood with a premium clear lift-front lens and a compatible class E rated hard hat, delivering head, face, and eye protection for environments requiring Category 4 arc flash ratings. All components reflect the product line’s emphasis on USA-made FR textiles and in-house assembly, with the lifting-front hood style intended to facilitate use while maintaining airflow and visibility under protective gear.
Construction notes reflected in the kit indicate a premium 40 CAL lift-front lens with anti-scratch and anti-fog coating, and fabric built from an 88/12 Indura cotton blend. The kit also features elements intended to improve ventilation and comfort, such as a lift-front design and multiple indirect air vents, with options for dual articulating lights and a rear fan unit as add-ons. The described hard hat is MSA V-Gard class E rated, aligning with common industry standards for arc-rated head protection. Washing instructions specify bleach and hydrogen peroxide for care, which indicates a need to follow chemical care guidelines to maintain protective performance.
Typical use cases involve workers requiring comprehensive PPE for arc-rated work practices, including those in electrical safety, where NFPA 70E, CSA Z462, ASTM F1506, and OSHA 1910.269 compliance are referenced for the product. The package contents list includes the 40 CAL premium clear lift-front lens, the lift-front hood fabric, and the class E rated hard hat, with the package described as each. When purchasing, verify that the hood’s compatibility with your existing head, eye protection, and hood-lift systems align with onsite workflow and maintenance requirements.
