The OEL AFW012-NJ 12 CAL jacket is an arc-flash rated outer layer designed for workers requiring Category 2 protection. Built with an 88/12 premium Indura cotton blend, it combines FR-treated comfort with durable, non-metallic construction to minimize electrical conduction in potentially hazardous environments. The garment is manufactured in the USA with hand sewing and domestic material sourcing, and it carries NFPA 70E, CSA Z462, ASTM F1506, and OSHA 1910.269 compliance indicators as documented in its product specifications, aligning with recognized safety standards for arc-flash protection.
Key design elements include non-metallic, non-conductive materials, a hook-and-loop enclosure for secure closure, a standard 32-inch length, and dual expansive back paneling to accommodate movement and layering. The jacket is designed for use in environments where arc-flash hazards are present, and the CAL rating specifies 12 CAL/cm² as the protection level. Washing instructions note that bleach and hydrogen peroxide are acceptable for care, which informs maintenance choices to help preserve fabric performance.
Practical considerations include the Category 2 designation within NFPA 70E, compatibility with other PPE worn on arc-flash tasks, and the package size listed as Each unit. For buyers needing full technical detail, a downloadable spec sheet is available, ensuring access to validated performance data. The product’s Made in America construction and the 12 CAL/cm² rating are important for buyers assessing compliance with internal safety programs and procurement standards.
