The CGW 52290 5" Dia 100-Grit Extreme Purple Ceramic PSA DOR Sanding Disc is a high-performance abrasive designed for fast material removal on metal and other hard substrates. It uses premium ceramic grain for enhanced cutting efficiency and a PSA (pressure-sensitive adhesive) backing that makes disc changes quick and secure on compatible quick-change systems. The 5-inch diameter and 100-grit size are chosen for aggressive material removal while delivering a relatively smooth finish, suitable for blending, deburring, and initial shaping tasks in maintenance and fabrication workflows.
Construction details include a C-weight latex paper backing with an open coat and a stearate coating. The ceramic grain contributes to consistent performance and extended life, while the stearate coating helps resist loading during operation, reducing clogging in dusty or resinous materials. The open coat design facilitates better cooling and debris evacuation, which can help sustain cutting efficiency during longer grinding sessions. The packaging specifies a single-disc format with a box quantity of 100, aligning with batch-use needs in shop or facility settings.
For best results, apply the disc to compatible 5" sanding discs or machines that support PSA discs, ensuring correct speed and application of even pressure to avoid glazing. The 100-grit classification targets removal and shaping tasks prior to finer finishing steps, and the ceramic composition is chosen to balance rapid stock removal with a controllable finish. As with all abrasive products, verify compatibility with your workpiece material, tooling, and equipment before use, and replace discs when wear or glazing is evident to maintain consistent performance.
