The CGW 36287 hand pads are a premium, non-woven abrasive solution designed for surface preparation. Sized 6 inches wide by 9 inches long, these maroon medium-grade pads are crafted to balance flexible conformability with effective material removal, making them suitable for rust removal, cleaning, and initial surface conditioning on metal and other hard substrates.
Constructed as non-woven pads, they offer a general-purpose abrasive action that supports light to medium finishing tasks. The maroon color denotes their intended role in surface preparation and rust removal, while the non-woven structure provides consistent, uniform contact with the workpiece. Each pad is packaged as an individual unit, with a box quantity of 20, enabling straightforward stocking and distribution for shop floors or job sites.
These pads are part of a color-coded family that includes grey for fine finishing, green for heavy-duty cleaning, white for non-abrasive cleaning, tan for rust removal and coarse finishes, and black for aggressive use. When selecting the CGW36287 pad, consider the required aggressiveness and the finish goal to ensure appropriate pairing with subsequent grits or pad types. As with all non-woven abrasives, inspect the workpiece and pad regularly to prevent glazing or loading, and follow standard safety and PPE guidelines during use.
Compatibility notes: the pads are designed for general purpose applications and are sized for standard handheld or compatible backing setups. Maintain clean pads free of embedded material to sustain consistent performance and consider replacing the pad when grinding efficiency declines or when loading is evident.
