The CGW 51015 is a 5-inch diameter sanding disc designed for versatile dry and wet sanding tasks in maintenance and fabrication settings. Built with a film backing, this disc prioritizes a fast, consistent finish and longer service life compared to traditional paper-backed discs. The 80-grit aluminum oxide abrasive is mounted on a PSA (pressure-sensitive adhesive) backing for quick application to compatible hook-and-loop or flat-surfaced holders, supporting efficient material removal with controlled finish quality.
Key construction features include a .003 inch Mylar film backing that provides durability and pliability, helping the disc resist tearing during use while maintaining a stable cut. The film formulation is selected to extend life relative to standard paper discs, which can translate to fewer disc changes in demanding sanding operations. These characteristics make the disc suitable for applications where a smooth, medium-coarse finish is desired on metal and other sturdy substrates, whether in dry grinding or wet sanding scenarios as conditions permit.
For practical use, ensure proper surface preparation and consistent pressure to achieve uniform results. The disc is packaged as 1 piece per unit with a box quantity of 100, and its 5-inch diameter aligns with common project sizes and standard sanding accessories. When selecting compatible tools, verify the PSA attachment and disc mounting method supported by your workstation to maintain secure adhesion and optimal performance throughout the sanding cycle.
