The CGW 49818 6" diameter sanding disc is designed for high-performance material removal on flat surfaces. This PSA (pressure-sensitive adhesive) disc features a 60-grit aluminum oxide grain on a gold-weight, tear-resistant paper backing, with a full phenolic bond system. The combination of heat-treated aluminum oxide grain and an open coat construction provides a fast-cutting action while promoting longer disc life and a more even scratch pattern, which helps achieve consistent finish quality on metal, wood, or composite workpieces.
Key construction elements include a stearated backing to reduce loading and friction, and a heat-treated aluminum oxide grit that contributes to durability under repeated contact with abrasive surfaces. The open coat design further enhances dust-management characteristics and helps maintain aggressive cutting behavior over many uses. These attributes are particularly beneficial when using on rotary or orbital sanders that accept 6" PSA discs, enabling efficient material removal with predictable results.
Supported use cases typically involve surface preparation, deburring, and finishing steps where a balance of cut rate and disc life is important. The disc is sized for standard 6" PSA holders and is packaged as individual discs within a box of 100, suitable for shop environments with multiple stations or ongoing production needs. When selecting replacement discs, verify compatibility with your sander’s backing pad and confirm 60-grit suitability for the intended finish prior to use, noting that the C-Weight designation indicates the disc’s relative density and backing firmness, which can influence conformability and edge wear.
