The CGW 49766 5" Dia 180-Grit Gold Aluminum Oxide PSA DOR Sanding Disc is designed for efficient material removal on flat surfaces and profiles. This PSA (pressure-sensitive adhesive) disc uses a 5-inch diameter and is built with a gold-weight open-coat aluminum oxide grain, delivering a fast cut and extended life under regular sanding conditions. The full phenolic bond system and heat-treated grain promote a uniform scratch pattern, helping to produce consistent finishes across workpieces.
The disc features stearated paper and a tear-resistant substrate that resists loading and tearing during use, which contributes to longer sanding cycles and fewer disc changes. The open-coat construction allows for better resin and dust handling, reducing heat buildup and maintaining cutting efficiency. These characteristics make the disc suitable for common metal and wood finishing tasks where a mid-range grit is appropriate for initial smoothing and deburring.
Compatibility is defined by a standard 5-inch PSA format with 180 grit, classified as a C-weight (hardness) disc suitable for general-purpose sanding. Each disc is packaged individually with a box quantity of 100, suitable for stocking in maintenance shops and auto body prep areas. For optimal results, verify your sanding surface is clean and free of debris, and replace discs when wear or loading reduces cutting efficiency to prevent burning or gouging of the workpiece.
