The ACCKDD471 is a gate valve lockout designed to securely prevent operation of rising stem gate valves by isolating the handle. Its hinged clamshell housing completely encloses the valve handle, keeping it in the position it was in at the moment of lockout and blocking access to the mechanism. The durable plastic body is finished in a bright hazard red to aid visibility in the work area. A distinctive feature is the integrated pry guard, which reduces the possibility of prying the two halves apart, enhancing tamper resistance. The center thinning area allows for easy drill-through and attachment on suitable valve handles, facilitating a secure installation for temporary stoppages. The lockout ships with space for lockout information via an accompanying safety label that features red diagonal hazard stripes. The design includes three shackle holes to accommodate padlocks (sold separately) in a group lockout setting, enabling multiple workers to secure the same valve when needed. The product is specified to fit multiple valve handle diameters, including a 2 1/2" x 5" sized body, and is offered as a ready-to-use option for facility maintenance and lockout/tagout programs.
