The leveler uses a mechanical actuation method: the operator engages the lip by pulling the actuation handle into the pocket and moving it forward so the lip rests on the truck bed; as the trailer departs, the lip retracts automatically behind the bumper face. A hand-pump hydraulic option is also described for lifting and extending the lip, while an electric hydraulic version provides powered raising and lip extension via a control button, with the deck returning to stored position once the truck moves away.

The standard ramping height is 29 inches, with 29-13/16 inches noted for the 30,000 lb. configuration, and a longer ramp option is available for smaller grade variations on related PP and PE series models. The package includes the necessary components for installation, such as the ramp, bumpers, and the relevant hydraulic or mechanical actuation hardware depending on the chosen operating method. When selecting and configuring, note that installation requires a steel dock edge, an approach ramp or plate on the dock face, and a full weld across the mounting plate as well as bolting through provided anchor holes to secure the unit.
