The PHC E13301-9 QBAR Smart-Retract Safety Knife is a heavy-duty, auto-retracting cutting tool designed to reduce blade-related injuries during packing and opening tasks. Its smart retract feature instantly pulls the blade back into the handle when contact with the cutting surface ends, offering a safer workflow for general carton opening and light-duty box work. The tool also includes a bladeless metal tape splitter, enabling users to separate tapes and open boxes without exposing the blade, which helps extend blade life and reduces direct blade handling.
Constructed with a rugged aluminum body, the QBAR emphasizes durability in demanding environments while maintaining a comfortable, ergonomic grip. The tool-free blade change system allows quick swapping of blades without tools, and a three-button design supports cutting on the top or side of cartons for both right- and left-handed users. The package ships with one SB-92 Safety Point Blade and provides capability to hold five additional blades, supporting extended use between replacements.
Practically, this knife suits warehouse, fulfillment, and facility maintenance tasks where frequent carton opening occurs and blade exposure must be minimized. Its straight cutting edge, carbon steel blade material, and safety-focused retract mechanism are compatible with standard safety knife practices, but the item does not list specific blade compatibility beyond the included SB-92 and the capacity for additional blades. When selecting or stocking, consider the need for blade availability and replacement cadence, especially in high-turnover environments. This product is categorized under janitorial supplies and is presented as a universal cutting tool designed to improve safety and efficiency in common packaging workflows.
