CGW 61249 4" W x 24" L 36-Grit A3 Aluminum Oxide X-Weight Abrasive Belt is designed for rapid stock removal on a variety of materials. With aluminum oxide grain on an X-Weight backing, this belt features a closed coat to maximize material removal and extend belt life, making it suitable for demanding surface prep and finishing tasks. The combination of 36 grit and A3 hardness provides aggressive cutting action while maintaining control on ferrous metals, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, as well as composites, plastics, and wood when used in appropriate grinding applications.
Documented construction details indicate an aluminum oxide grainset bonded to an X-Weight backing, which contributes to a balance of rigidity and flexibility needed for belt endurance and consistent performance on flat and contoured workpieces. The closed coat design helps ensure a higher material removal rate per pass, which can improve productivity in workshop or facility maintenance settings. Users should consider wheel and machine compatibility, belt tension, and appropriate guard coverage to achieve optimal results while managing heat buildup and wear.
This belt is sized at 4 inches in width and 24 inches in length, and is packaged in quantities consistent with professional use (each, box quantity 50). Proper maintenance includes inspecting belts for glazing or loading and replacing when edges or backing show excessive wear. The belt is intended for general purpose prep and initial finishing tasks on a range of materials commonly encountered in facility maintenance; verify substrate compatibility and welds or coatings prior to use to prevent surface damage.
