The CGW 52864 abrasive belt is a high-performance option designed for rapid material removal across a variety of substrates. This 37" W x 60" L belt features 150-grit aluminum oxide grain on a Y-weight backing, delivering a balance of flexibility and durability suited for surface preparation and finishing tasks on ferrous metals, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, composites, plastics, and wood. The closed-coat construction helps maximize material removal rates while providing extended belt life, supporting efficient workflows in metal fabrication and maintenance environments.
What sets this belt apart is its combination of grain type, grit size, and backing that together influence cut rate, heat generation, and finish quality. Aluminum oxide is a versatile abrasive that works well for general-purpose grinding and deburring, while the Y-weight backing provides dimensional stability and conforms to varied contours without excessive flex. This makes the belt appropriate for applications requiring consistent stock removal with a relatively smooth finish, across multiple material families commonly encountered in facility maintenance and fabrication shops.
For practical use, this product is sold with a box quantity of five belts, each sized 37" by 60" and identified by CGW52864. When selecting replacement belts, ensure compatibility with your grinding equipment’s belt dimensions and inspection routines, and consider backing weight and grit as they relate to the desired balance of removal rate versus finish. Maintenance considerations include inspecting the belt for wear, replacing as a set to maintain consistent performance, and following standard safety practices during operation.
