The CGW 52716 is a 5-inch diameter sanding disc designed for metalworking applications, offering a 50-grit zirconia abrasive on a Y-weight cloth backing with a PSA (pressure-sensitive adhesive) mount. This combination is intended to deliver a fast cutting action with improved grain retention, while the active filler in the bond helps promote cooler cutting and longer disc life during material removal tasks.
Constructed as a Z3 green zirconia abrasive on a sturdy Y-weight resin-bond polyester cloth, the disc is configured for easy application to compatible sanding tools through its PSA adhesive layer. The 5" disc size and PSA format support quick changeovers and efficient workflow in metal fabrication and maintenance environments, particularly when working with stainless steel, steel, and aluminum surfaces where aggressive material removal is required but heat generation must be managed.
Practical considerations include selecting the 50-grit rating for relatively aggressive stock removal with a smoother finish target, and using the disc within its intended PSA system on appropriate tool spindles. The standard packaging for this item is listed as individual discs, with a box quantity of 50 per package, aiding bulk replacement planning for shop floors and job sites. For best results, ensure the disc is mounted flat and fully adhered before operation, and replace when wear alters surface finish or cutting performance.
