CGW 51657 is a 5-inch diameter sanding disc designed for versatile wood and contour finishing tasks. Made with a flexible J-Weight polyester/cotton cloth, this disc provides a sturdy backing that supports aggressive material removal while maintaining conformity to contours. The aluminum oxide grain on a PSA (pressure-sensitive adhesive) backing suits applications that require consistent abrasion and durable performance, with the 60-grit size offering a balance between material removal and surface finish quality. The J-Weight fabric backing is noted for its performance in cloth discs, often preferred for longer life and improved flexibility in demanding sanding scenarios.
This disc is engineered for use with standard 5-inch PSA applications, enabling quick attachment to compatible sanding heads or hand-held tools. The 60-grit aluminum oxide formulation is appropriate for initial stock removal and shaping tasks on wood, making it suitable for mold sanding, breaking edges, and contour work where a combination of aggressiveness and a smoother finish is desired. The disc is provided in a box quantity of 50, which supports routine maintenance and replenishment in professional shop environments. While the data does not specify exact equipment compatibility beyond the PSA format, users should ensure their tooling accepts 5-inch PSA discs and that the backing and grit meet the demands of their project material and desired finish.
