The CGW 51053 is a 5-inch diameter sanding disc designed for versatile dry and wet sanding tasks. It utilizes a PSA (pressure-sensitive adhesive) backing with a durable film construction, offering a strong, pliable, and consistent finish that supports extended wheel life versus traditional paper discs. The 120-grit aluminum oxide grain is mounted on a .003-inch Mylar film backing, which contributes to smoother operation and improved resistance to tearing under typical sanding conditions.
Key construction details include a film-backed format that prioritizes longevity and stable stock removal, helping to reduce heat buildup and produce uniform surface texture. The film backing is intended to deliver dependable performance across a range of substrates, making it suitable for applications where a fine-to-medium abrasive cut is required on metal and compatible materials. The disc is sold individually under the CGW brand with the part number CGW51053, and is commonly used in facility maintenance and light fabrication settings where precise stock removal and a quality finish are important.
When using PSA discs, practitioners should ensure proper disc alignment on compatible sanding tools and monitor adhesive bond integrity during use, especially in wet sanding scenarios where film-backed discs can offer improved resistance to edge tearing. Each 5-inch disc is packaged as a single unit, and the product family includes a box quantity of 100 in some stocking configurations. This information supports planning for replacement cycles and maintenance workflows in busy shop or facility environments.
