Increased focus on sustainability and the need to reduce climate change has led to high demand for electric vehicles in the auto industry. Auto manufacturers are now transitioning large portions of their businesses to electric and hybrid vehicle (EHV) manufacturing that requires workers to be in the presence of high voltage components. Preventing damage from Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) in production is key as static control is a hazard at every point from parts manufacture to final assembly.

Dealing with cables that carry high-voltage electricity or batteries containing toxic and highly flammable substances are just some of the dangers of the electric vehicle manufacturing process. Post manufacturing maintenance requires worker protection from high voltage and arc flash.

Every day, workers are exposed to life-threatening hazards on the job, making it critical for them to have the right personal protective equipment (PPE) to keep them safe from head to toe.

Hand Protection

Up to 30 percent of hand injuries are attributed to fit, wear or simply the wrong type of glove for the hazard. The Safety Source believes we can help eliminate hand injuries on the job. Our coated, cut resistant gloves provide excellent dexterity and tactile sensitivity while delivering the cut resistance levels required in a broad range of automotive manufacturing applications.

Rubber Insulating Gloves

Rubber Insulating Gloves are critical PPE when working with EHV. They help protect automotive workers againt electrical shock if contact is made to an energized surface. They should be worn when disabling and enabling high-voltage batteries and whenever working near igh-voltage components. Gloves should meet an/or exceed the requirements f the ASTM D120-14a Standard Specification for Rubber Insulating Gloves. Gloves should also be electrically teted following ASTM D120-14a.
